30 Weeks

I’ve come to a pretty scary realisation.  When I decided to do GeoQuest it was about 45 weeks away, I’ve been training for 13 weeks now leaving just 30 weeks until the event.  I’m a third of the way through already… AND I’M GETTING PRETTY EXCITED!!

I emailed the Baden Powell Award Scheme Support (BPSA) to put forward my GeoQuest Proposal.  Its taken me this long to decide to use it for Personal Growth rather than Physical.  The deciding factor was realising the journey I’ve started has already taught me so much about what I’m capable of, and that all aspects of my life are going to continue to be challenged, and improved.  My diet has changed, I’m physically active almost every second day, I’ve lost weight, I’ve been injured, I’ve recovered, I’ve learnt to mountain bike, I’ve improved my running, I’m enjoying kayaking and as a result I’m in a great headspace.

All in all I’m pretty happy with how I’m tracking, and so far I’m up to date with the goals I’ve set.  Below is the training goals I’ve set to be Adventure Race Ready by June 2016:

Start Personal Training

September 2015

4 weeks off Cardio to overcome shin splints injury
Purchased a mountain bike

October 2015
1 x PT session per week
1 x Physio session per week for ITB Injury
Hiked Coastal track – 30km
Hiked Heathcoate to Audley – 9km
Rode Heathcoate to Engadine return – 17km
Rode Endurance Track Cataract – 9km

November 2015
1 x PT session per week
1 x Physio session per week for ITB Injury
Mountain Bike comfortably for 10km
Run comfortably for 3km
Kayak comfortably for 5km
Hiked Waterfall to Forrest Path return – 12km
Rode Lady Carington Drive – 19km
Running average of 4.2km reached with C25k

December 2015

Run comfortably for 5km
Kayak comfortably for 5km
Start trail running
