Australia Day Canyon

What better way is there to celebrate Australia Day then to get out there and see some of our beautiful Country.

My Australia Day was spent doing the top half of Macquarie Pass Canyon, scrambling up steep vegetation and abseiling down waterfalls.

Myall invited me to come along to meet some fellow Adventure Racers, and they were a pretty inspiring brunch of people. As soon as I saw them I felt well out of my league, super fit looking people raring to go, all wearing shirts from previous races/marathons they’ve completed. With no such events under my belt these guys know exactly how crazy I am taking on GeoQuest, but they were also really supportive offering heaps of advice.

Abseil when ready!

Happy with how I kept up, it may have been a  different story if we were racing.  These guys are great – so motivating to see enthusiastic people willing to share an adventure, advice and experience…all while in a canyon.  Best learning environment ever.
